Education, Certifications, Licenses & Registrations: High School diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred, but not required. Specialized Knowledge and Skills:  Able to read tape measure and voltage meter. Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems. Able to read and interpret moderately complex documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc.  Able to write notes or simple correspondence.  Able to effectively communicate information to coworkers and managers. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimal. Essential Duties: Install, repair, and maintain electrical apparatus, including electrical components of machinery and equipment Repair hydraulic cylinders, hydraulic valves, and pneumatic valves Perform periodic preventative maintenance (PMs) on all equipment Identify the cause of machine and equipment malfunctions (‘trouble shoot’) Dismantle, repair, and re-assemble equipment as necessary Run power supply wiring to machines and equipment Run auxiliary cables and wires to machines and equipment Perform maintenance and repair work on building and office Work Environment:   Heavy manufacturing with loud noise levels. Enclosed, but not air conditioned work areas. Space heaters and fans provided. Physical Demands:  Spends more than 2/3 of time standing, walking, using hands, reaching, kneeling/crouching, and talking/hearing.  Lifts/positions items weighing less than 10 lbs. more than 2/3 of time.  Generally requires clear vision at close distances (for reading and inspecting) and color vision (for identifying wire color). Education, Certifications, Licenses & Registrations: High school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Experience: At least three months of related experience is preferred. Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of hot dip galvanizing, steel fabrication or other custom metal coating operations is preferred. Knowledge of raw materials, production process, quality control and costs and knowledge of hand tools and equipment is preferred.  Knowledge of specific and general safety policies and procedures as it relates to the plant and the position is preferred. Essential Duties: Moves material to and from storage and production areas, loads docks & delivery vehicles by forklift, hand and other equipment. Receives written or oral instructions for work assignments, determines applicable material and equipment needs. Attaches identifying tags to material and/or marks them with pertinent information. Hangs/takes down racks of material using specific training methods. Carries out general housekeeping duties such as sweeping and picking up discarded material. Inspects material for sags, runs, drips and bare areas. Cleans material as specified by the customer. Confers with leads and/or supervisors to report material conditions that could result in production or customer problems. Assists in proper loading of customer material. Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of raw materials, production process, quality control and costs, knowledge of hand tools and equipment is preferred.  Knowledge of specific and general safety policies and procedures as relates to the plant and the position is preferred. Essential Duties: Responsible for tying or assisting with tying material onto racks with wire or chain for safe movement through the galvanizing process. Use wire to tie material to bow racks, universal racks, or other tooling to prepare for the pickling tanks using specific training methods for the galvanizing process. Use rope to lift and prepare material for the pickling tanks using specific training methods for galvanizing process. Operates and visually inspects all equipment (i.e. forklifts, cranes, tooling, etc.) prior to usage to ensure no maintenance is needed. Learns to rack a variety of materials by assisting others. Racks, unracks or cleans material in order as directed. May learn to use a torch to dry materials before hot dipping. May clean material using a grinder, file, or brush as specified by the customer. Inspects material for sags, runs, drips, bare spots and reports it to management. Uses bolt cutters to remove wire from product and tooling and disposes of it per established procedures. Learns to inspect materials for holes, smothered spots, etc. Perform housekeeping activities to keep production area and equipment clean and organized. Confers with supervisors to report material conditions that could result in production or customer problems by form of damage or quality issues. May assist with training new production helpers as specified by management. Required to wear protective equipment, follow safety rules and all company policies and procedures. Physical Demands: Majority of the time is spent standing, walking, stooping, reaching, and bending. Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. Must have good eye hand coordination.
